Amazonas Opera House

Inaugurated on December 31, 1896, the Amazonas Opera House is the main cultural and architectural heritage of Amazonas and one of the most important theaters in Brazil and the world. With eclectic architecture (with elements of classical, neoclassical and modern), it has 689 places, artistic bodies, a museum with a documental collection, objects from various periods and a dressing room to visit.

The Amazonas Opera House hosts different festivals, among them the Amazonas Opera Festival, one of the most important in Latin America with more than 70 operas executed in 22 years, being “Ring of Nibelungo” (Der Ring des Nibelungen) a cycle of four epic operas by the German composer Richard Wagner, one of the most outstanding operas of the Festival, which is held annually in April and May.
