The first capital of the Province of Amazonas, has great historical value and shelters the Archipelago of Mariuá, the largest in the world, with about 1,400 islands in a beautiful scenery bathed by the waters of the Negro River, also sheltering the El Dorado jump, one of the largest waterfalls in Brazil, with approximately 353m high, located in the State Park of Serra do Aracá.
The main destination of the State for the practice of sport fishing, Barcelos is much sought after by sport fishermen from all over the world, in search of the so dreamed tucunaré, which among the more than 15 species known only in the Amazon Region, has the tucunaré-açu (Cichla temensis) the tucunaré-troféu and which can exceed 12 kilos and 1.20m in length.
